Creating a coupon code within Sonido is simple. You will first access coupon codes by going to Settings -> Coupons to access the coupon code management page.
From this page, you will see a list of any coupon codes that have been created and that are currently active. To create a new coupon code, select the blue "+ Create New Coupon" button at the top-right of the view.
In the Create New Coupon dialog, you will see all the fields that are necessary for creating your new coupon code. These fields include the following:
NAME - In this field you will populate the name of the coupon code. This is simply a descriptive name that is used for internal purposes to differentiate coupon codes - this is not viewed by your clients. For example, you could write something like, "July Promotion 2024 - 15% off".
COUPON CODE - In this field you will populate the coupon code that you would like clients to use for redemption. The coupon code is not case sensitive. You can use spaces and special characters, although it's recommended to keep the coupon code simple. For example, your coupon code could be something like "JULY15OFF" or "FirstTimeCustomer".
DISCOUNT TYPE - In this field you will select what type of discount you are providing. You can choose from either a Fixed Amount Discount or a Percentage Discount.
PERCENTAGE OFF / DISCOUNT AMOUNT - Depending on which Discount Type you select in the previous field, the next field to the right will either display as "Percentage Off" or "Discount Amount". If you previously selected Fixed Amount Discount, then you will populate a fixed amount (number) for the discount in the "Discount Amount" field; if you previously selected Percentage Discount, then you will populate a percentage amount (number) in the "Percentage Off" field. You do not need to add a percentage symbol or monetary currency symbol to these numbers.
LIMIT THE DATE RANGE WHEN THE COUPON CODE CAN BE REDEEMED - This selection will allow you to select a date range for coupon redemptions. If you do not select this field, the coupon code will be open ended, meaning that it will be available for redemption from now until forever into the future. If you wish to limit the redemption dates, select this checkbox. You will see two new fields display where you can populate the Effective Date (start date) and the Expiration Date (end date).
- If you set the Effective Date as a date in the future, be aware that your coupon code will save, but will display in the "Inactive" list of coupon codes. This is expected, as the coupon code is not currently active; once the Effective Date arrives, the coupon code will automatically display in the Active list of coupons and be available for redemptions.
- If you set an Expiration Date, your coupon code will automatically move to the "Inactive" list of coupon codes after that date has ended. This is expected , as the coupon code has expired and is no longer available for redemptions.
This is NOT a required field.
LIMIT THE TOTAL NUMBER OF REDEMPTIONS - This selection will allow you to limit how many clients can redeem the coupon when booking an Online Booking or when creating an invoice. For example, if you are running a campaign for a discounted rate that is only available to the first 10 people who redeem the coupon code, you could set this field to limit the total number of redemptions to 10. This would allow the first 10 clients to redeem the coupon code, and prevent additional redemptions beyond 10.
This is NOT a required field.
RESTRICT A CUSTOMER TO A SINGLE REDEMPTION - This selection allows you to limit a customer to a single redemption. Sonido will track redemptions on a contact email address, and if a customer has previously used the coupon code in the past, it will prevent them from redeeming the coupon code a second time. For example, this is a great option if you want to give new customers a discount, but you don't want them to use the coupon code more than once in the future.
This is NOT a required field.
Once you have populated all these fields appropriately, select the "Save" button to save the coupon code. If your coupon code is currently active, you will see the coupon code saved in the list. Your coupon code can now be used by you or your clients (if Active). Sonido does not share coupon codes with your client - you can share any coupon codes that you wish with your clients as a part of marketing campaigns or general marketing practices.
REMEMBER: If you are not seeing your saved coupon code in the list, it's likely because you set an Effective Date in the future, meaning that your coupon code is not currently active. If you change the filter at the top of this view from "Active" to "Inactive", you should see your coupon code in the list. Once that Effective Date arrives, your coupon code will automatically show up in the Active list.
