Within Sonido, you have the ability to create your own custom fields for use in collecting information that is pertinent to your business operations. Sonido has made the ability for you to build your own custom fields simple, allowing you to easily name the new fields, identify what type of field will be used, and within which "object" this custom field will display (i.e. Leads, Contacts, Projects, etc).
Furthermore, you are also able to use these custom fields within other areas of the platform to provide even further benefit. For example, if you wish to add custom fields to your custom web forms, all custom fields assigned to the "Leads" object will now be made available for adding to your web form; similarly, all custom fields assigned to the "Projects" object will now be made available for adding to your online booking portal within the "Project Fields" area.
CREATE A CUSTOM FIELD
To create a custom field, go to Settings -> Custom Fields and select the "Custom Fields" option in the submenu list.
You will see the Custom Fields page where any custom fields that you've created will display. Within this view, there are options to filter your custom fields list by what Object has been assigned (i.e. Lead, Contact, Project, etc.), the Field Type (i.e. "Single Line Text", "Checkbox", "Number", "Date Picker", etc.) and the Status (Active or Disabled).
At the top of the view, you will see a blue button that reads, "+ Create New Custom Field". Select that button to create your own custom field.
In the dialog that displays you will begin to populate the details related to the new custom field that you are creating.
Label - this is the name of the field that you are creating. The name that you enter here is what your field will be named within Sonido.
Description - this is where you can populate a description of the field that you are creating. This is for internal reference purposes only, and this will not be displayed by any clients or outside parties.
Object - this is how Sonido knows where to display your field. Select an Object within Sonido where you'd like your custom field to display. Your options include:
- Lead
- Project
- Contact
- Artist/Group
- Company
- Booking
Active? - this is used to determine whether your field is Active or Disabled (hidden from the view). When creating a new custom field, you will leave this enabled; if at any time you want to hide the custom field, such as if it's no longer necessary and you don't want to lose the data that you've collected, you can disable the field.
Field Type - this is used to define what type of custom field you are creating. The field will look and provide interaction differently depending on what field type you set up. The field types currently available for use include:
- Single-Line Text - this includes a single line of text in the field entry.
- Multi-Line Text - this includes multiple lines of text in the field entry.
- Number - this includes a single line of text in the field entry, but only allows numbers to be populated.
- Picklist Select - this includes a picklist field where the user can select from a list of options. Upon selecting this Field Type, you will create a list of options that can be selected. This list can be updated or modified over time.
- Single Checkbox - this includes a checkbox field that can be marked.
- Radio Select - this includes a radio button field (circle bubbles for selection) where the user can select from a list of options. Upon selecting this Field Type, you will create a list of options that can be selected. Only one radio option may be selected for this field. This list can be updated or modified over time.
- Date Picker - this includes a date field that can be selected. Upon selecting the date picker field, a calendar will display, allowing the user to select a date from the calendar view.
You will populate the options based on the custom field information that you want display for capturing relevant info. As an example, you can see how we've created a field for "What Service is Required?" where we've populated some general options within a Picklist Select Field Type.
Upon saving this field, it will now display as a Custom Field in my list.
Because we indicated that this Custom Field would be added to the "Lead" object, we will now also see this Custom Field when creating and editing Lead records within our Sonido account. These Custom Fields will display within their own section in the Object under a heading titled "Custom Fields".
You will repeat this same process to create the Custom Fields that you would like to see within your Sonido account. At this time, there are no limits to the number of Custom Fields that you can create, but we recommend giving some thought to how you use these fields; if you create a large number of fields, your data entry sections within the Objects may display very large and become cumbersome to add or review information.
