CATEGORY & SUBCATEGORY MANAGEMENT
Before you begin adding Equipment to your Sonido account, you will need to configure the appropriate Categories and Subcategories that you will list equipment under.
A Category is a high-level category, such as "Microphone", "Instrument", "Computer", etc., whereas a Subcategory is a more granular level deeper. For example, your Category may be "Microphone", whereas you may have multiple Subcategories under that Category, such as "Dynamic", "Condenser", "Tube", "Ribbon", etc.
A Category is required for each piece of equipment that you create, and the Subcategory is optional. It is recommended that you build your list of Categories prior to creating equipment in your account.
CREATING A CATEGORY
You can customize your Equipment Categories by going to Settings -> Equipment Categories
In your account, your Equipment Categories list will likely be blank. You may click the blue button in the top-right corner of the screen that says, "+ Create new Category" to create a new Equipment Category.
A new dialog will appear where you can enter the name of the new Equipment Category that you'd like to create.
After saving this new Category, you will see the Category appear in the list. Repeat this process until you've created all the necessary Categories for your equipment.
Remember, you can come back to this page to create new Categories or manage Categories at any time in the future.
CREATING A SUBCATEGORY
Once you've created one or more Equipment Categories, you can now add Subcategories to each of your Categories. In looking at the list of Categories, you'll notice a few columns that display information. These columns include:
- Category - this is a list of all the Categories that you've created
- Subcategory - this is a number that represents how many Subcategories have been created for the Category line
- The last column includes several action icons to Edit, Add Subcategories, and Delete Categories.
In this case, we want to add one or more Subcategories to a new Category that we have created. Next to the Category, let's select the middle action icon that says, "Add Subcategory" when we hover over it.
After selecting "Add Subcategory", we'll see a new list within that Category where we can select the "+ Create New Subcategory" to add one or more Subcategories to the list. Each Subcategory will fall under the selected Category.
Simply add the name of the Subcategory and save.
Once you have created Categories and Subcategories, these options will be available when creating or managing Equipment within the Equipment Management section.
